  • Writing, editing and proofreading.
  • Thorough knowledge of the global development landscape, its institutions, concepts and jargon.
  • Understanding what clients want to say, and helping them communicate it well.

All time favourite piece of design? Maneki-neko, the Japanese waving cat figurine. (Fun fact: he’s actually beckoning you in, not waving at you.)
Most proud of? My volunteer work with isolated elderly people through the charity Age UK.
All time hero? Hannie Schaft, also known as the ‘girl with the red hair’. She was an extraordinarily courageous member of the Dutch resistance during WW2.
Guilty secret? Eating custard straight out of the tin.
Expert tip? Write for your audience, not for yourself. And be economical with your prose. Less is more.

My family is Dutch but I grew up in Bahrain, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Cote d’Ivoire before settling in the UK, so travel is in my blood.

I’m never happier than when I’m planning a trip, and my favourite leisure destinations are Japan and Greece.
