Brief
Following the success of the UAE State of Energy Report 2022-23, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) reappointed Blackwood to deliver the State of Energy Report 2025 – a flagship publication showcasing the nation’s progress in renewable energy, sustainability, and innovation.
The report provides an in-depth overview of the UAE’s energy transition, focusing on Net Zero by 2050, the water-energy nexus, and emerging sectors such as green hydrogen and digital transformation. Designed for an international audience of policymakers, investors, and energy experts, the 2025 edition reinforces the UAE’s position as a global leader in clean energy and sustainable growth.
Solution
Blackwood led the full project lifecycle – from planning and stakeholder coordination to editorial, design, and production. Working closely with MOEI and key contributing stakeholders, our team shaped a coherent, accessible narrative from diverse technical inputs, ensuring editorial consistency and alignment with the UAE’s strategic vision.
We drafted leadership messages, conducted interviews, and wrote feature articles that brought the UAE’s achievements to life, ensuring all submitted content met the highest standards of accuracy, tone, and clarity.
The report’s design reflects the dynamism of the UAE’s energy sector. Our creative approach featured custom linear energy-wave illustrations, symbolising connection and movement across renewable networks. We also produced bespoke iconography and data visualisations to enhance comprehension and visual appeal.
The cover design combined the energy flow motif with solar panels set against a Dubai cityscape, while the hardcover slipcase reinterpreted the report’s signature leaf motif within the same linear energy style, creating a cohesive and elegant identity.
Impact
The UAE State of Energy Report 2025 combines authoritative research, design excellence, and compelling storytelling. The report stands as both a record of achievement and a roadmap for the UAE’s journey toward a sustainable energy future.
Translating the UAE’s energy story into a visual language of flowing energy waves allowed us to create a design system that feels alive, purposeful, and deeply connected to the nation’s sustainability journey.
